Türckische Cammer. The Electoral Saxon Collection of Oriental Art

This is a special exhibition with a huge variety of works of oriental art in the electoral Saxon Armoury “Rüstkammer” in the “Residenzschloss” in Dresden.
The permanent exhibition is occupying 750m² on the second floor of the palace and offers visitors the opportunity to view exquisite Oriental-style pieces

Dresden Music Festival

The Dresden Music Festival has an interesting history which dates back to the middle of the Cold War. During this time, Herbert von Karajan, the young Claudio Abbado and Zubin Mehta with the New York Philharmonic were invited to Dresden to demonstrate the openness of East Germany. The Festival had built on the rich musical history of Dresden and wanted to continue its success from the pre-war era - a time when maestro Toscanini drove his car from Milan to Dresden to hear Fritz Busch at the Dresden Opera. Since the reunification of Germany in 1989, whose 21st anniversary we will celebrate in 2010, the city has flourished anew and the dynamics of the past twenty years have created a special atmosphere.

Saxon Switzerland
